Main Tower of Osaka Castle

The Main Tower of Osaka Castle, symbol of Osaka.
It is 54.8m tall in 5 layers with 8 floors. Brilliant gold decoration shines out everywhere including orca on the roof and concealed tigers under the handrail. It is a superb sight to see. The original Main Tower was built in 1585. The present Main Tower, the third after enduring wars and a lightning strike, was built in 1931, financed by donations from the citizens of Osaka.
